Abdi Aden

Word Farm

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Abdi Aden and hearing him speak for too short a time. I could have listened to him for hours, but instead I left with his book, 'Shining: The Story of a Lucky Man' (Harper Collins) co-written by Robert Hillman. His 'story' is simultaneously horrific, adventurous, heart wrenching, and ultimately uplifting. I am loathe to call it a story, as every word of it is true, but it is Abdi's story, and how he overcame such adversity to become an inspiration to everyone he meets. Abdi calls himself a lucky man, but we are the lucky ones, and his story should remind us all of that.
